Last week, members of the Altavoz crew journeyed from D.C. to L.A. to attend Music Biz 2013, the annual conference for industry professionals hosted by NARM and digitalmusic.org. At the conference, California-based hip-hop and funk/reggae fusion artist Michael Franti performed at an intimate Capitol Records showcase, playing “The Sound of Sunshine,” “Say Hey (I Love You),” and his new single “I’m Alive.”
Franti recently endorsed Matt Vonyo and Roshan Hoover’s book The New Rockstar Philosophy: A Guerrilla Blueprint for Digitally Conscious Artists, calling it “an outstanding guide for the Internet-era DIY musician who wants to thrive in today’s post major label music industry.” He says, “Whether you’re just starting your own band trying to define your sound and hairstyle or you are an experienced artist in search of new ways to earn your living through music,” The New Rockstar Philosophy is a go-to for any musician trying to make it in today’s new digital landscape.
The New Rockstar Philosophy is published by Indie Ink Publishing and now available in bookstores nationwide. If your local bookstore does not carry it, please urge them to do so.
