One of the great pleasures of my job is to attend shows and talk to bands about their current record biz situation. I didn’t just have to talk business, but I also got to see some great music, and see my college friend Kelly. Not only is Kelly a fellow Music Industry Management grad, but she is the “merch girl” for There For Tomorrow (TFT).
After meeting Kelly at the Silver Spring Fillmore, we picked up two other TFT friends and met Christian (TFT guitarist) and Dave (TFT lights pro) at Austin Grill (TFT lead singer Maika soon joined). After showing the group a few of my new iPhone 4S tricks, we soon got to chatting about how their tour is going, and a bit about themselves. After speaking with them, I was really anxious to see their show.
After Austin Grill, we grabbed some Frozen Yo, and then headed back to the venue. The only band I had seen before was Mayday Parade, so I was excited to see some new music performances. Also on The Noise Tour is Sparks The Rescue, We Are The In Crowd, and The Make. I had an excellent time, and my expectations for the concert were highly exceeded. I firmly suggest catching any of the remaining dates of The Noise Tour, checking out the bands online, and buying some of their albums.
After the show I was lucky enough to stay at the venue and talk with some really fine people, which included Sparks The Rescue lead singer Alex Roy, who is a very gregarious person. Not only do these bands bring you enjoyable music, but the crowd is full of friendly people.
Be sure to buy some of their music, and find out why they are drawing such a large crowd!
